This 8 hour hands on course provides instruction to the average non medical person in treating serious trauma injuries, including gun shot wounds, stab wounds and other penetrating trauma.
Emergency Life Saver Course Topics include:
- Patient assessment
- Hemorrhage control
- Bandaging and specialty wound management
- Airway techniques
- Drags, carries and lifts
- Victim Triage
- American Heart Association certification in Adult First Aid/Cpr is included
No medical training is required to take this course. Local police SWAT and/or military special operations medics teach this course. Realistic special effects, state of art simulations manikins are used in this course.
Instructor: Captain Layne Hilton has been involved with EMS care and service for over 20 years. He has training in several areas of expertise including emergency medicine, tactical medicine, hazardous material exposure medicine, and emergency care in radiological, biological, and explosive emergencies. He is a former member of the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s (now U.P.D.) S.W.A.T. team. He is certified both as a Tactical Emergency Medical Services instructor as well as a Tactical Combat Casualty Care instructor. He has served on the Unified Fire Authority’s Hazardous Materials Team, and has taught Emergency Medical Care for local colleges and universities around the State of Utah. Currently Captain Hilton serves as the Medical Training Officer for the Unified Fire Authority
